Greetings! You are listening to the weekly commentary by yours truly, Paul Cienfuegos.

I had the privilege of spending a few hours earlier today with Winona LaDuke, founder and director of Honor the Earth, and the Green Party’s Vice-Presidential candidate with Ralph Nader in their campaigns of 2000 and 2004. She is a member of the Mississippi Band of the White Earth Reservation of the Anishinaabe Nation on land which is now commonly known as Minnesota. She was in town to give a speech at the Vine Deloria Jr annual lecture series at Reed College in Portland, Oregon.

Next week I’ll be playing the interview I did with Winona LaDuke’s partner, Don Wedll, about Native American law-making. Don has been helping Native communities to write laws that protect their land and water for more than 30 years. Don’t miss it!
